The Un-Turning Wheel

The resilience of painting as medium is situated at the divergence between function and value. In a historic triumph, for generation after generation, painting is steadfast in its position as a beloved form of creative output. Where techniques may vary, each brush stroke – in this exhibition, and beyond – is a triumph of creativity, unshackled to utility. In a painting, generation after generation, there is something else to continuously return to. Something that transfixes the gaze, softens it, and makes room for feeling something else. It does not beg to be reinvented, but simply for the viewers to return, generation after generation, to find in the details, there is always something else to see.
