The Wreck Room

Kalashnikovv Gallery presents a space exclusively dedicated to connecting the public with the most dynamic emerging and established artists in the local contemporary art scene. The Wreck Room channel aims to give insight into the life and practice of visual artists from Africa and its diaspora. All featured artist are supported with a month long exhibition in the gallery project space in Johannesburg.

Le Grand Ball

Redefining & re-imagining queer lifestyle activities. Le Grand Ball hosts engaging monthly events for the LGBTQIA+ community. Creating safe spaces for trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming bodies that are pushing the boundaries of African music, fashion, dance and visual arts.

Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival

In 2013 Kalashnikovv Gallery and Constitution Hill created the first large scale multi-disciplinary arts festival to take place on the historical prison site in Braamfontein. The festival focused on the creativity of the South African youth and the historical celebration of Youth day (June 16th) in honour of the Soweto Uprising in 1976. Kalashnikovv Gallery curated and produced the festival program between 2013 and 2016, before opening up the programming title to a tender process in 2017. Basha Uhuru continues to grow each year and now hosts over ten thousand guests annually.

The Black Cube Sessions

A collaborative event series showcasing Johannesburg’s most exciting new and established creative minds. A monthly escape from the mundane that challenges the prevailing "white cube" gallery discourse by featuring cutting edge musicians, video artists, DJ’s & photographers from around the country.

The Tennis Club

Located in the old clubhouse building at the Ellis Park Tennis Stadium, the club was designed as an alternative events space by night and home for Johannesburg's creative class by day. Members are selected based on their contribution to the creative economy of the city. On weekends Filmmakers, visual artists, fashion designers and creators of all varieties can be found contemplating the views of Ponte and Telkom tower from our rooftop well into the early hours of the morning.

New Testament

A conceptual bar & lounge that features a curated selection of artworks addressing themes associated with life, death and belief. New Testament is an ever-evolving exhibition of humanity, art, food and dangerous liquids.
