forget me, not
a group exhibition
22.03–29.03.2025
Kalashnikovv Gallery, Cape Town
Kalashnikovv Gallery hosts a group exhibition focused on emerging artists based in Cape Town, South Africa, curated by Björn Thomas and Mbako Kago Moemise. Dream-like amalgamations of oils, wax, metals, and cements thread the gallery space as each artist’s work imposes its own solemn monumental stature.
“Forget me, not” considers the sanctity of memory, from the individual to the collective, in the ever increasing rate that information is traded in an age of mass communication. This exhibition questions what we remember and hold dear amongst a sea of cultural cannibalism. The faces we live with, the places a color belongs, the textures that emerge from it, and the screenshots in our phone. The artists in this exhibition implore a juxtaposition of the public/private when viewing the artworks together.
