BASTIAAN VAN STENIS
Bless Bridges

04.05.24 - 25.05.24

Solo Exhibition
Kalashnikovv Gallery, Johannesburg

The works in this Collection span different periods, converging into a visionary cacophony that, to me, echoes resemblances among them. They now coexist, hanging side by side, interlinking their scars of idealism with what they have evolved into.

These pieces serve as a protest against forgetting or neglecting the values of the things we have loved and lost, or those we have yet to encounter. They represent relationships that have waxed and waned, and those still on the horizon.

As you traverse from one painting to another, you too may see the metaphorical bridges connecting one painting to another.

These bridges symbolise both refuge and passages we’ve navigated—to progress, regress, or simply connect with one another. They encapsulate the journey of love, loss, and the perpetual pursuit of affection, each step blessed with significance.
